Apparently A.V. Club is releasing their summer break covers all day long. This is the third of seven. Josh Carterer of Smoking Popes doing a beautiful cover of one of my favorite Smiths songs, “Ask.”
Really, this is just so simple and beautiful. Stripped down and yet built back up to be so rich with the addition of strings.
WHAT?!? Two great A.V. Club Undercover songs in a row? Unheard of! Maps & Atlases did a great job with this classic that always reminds me of Dazed and Confused (and apparently it reminds them of the film as well). The opposite end of the spectrum energy wise as compared to last weeks episode. But still just as fun. Especially with A.V. Club staffers wearing costumes found in the Threadless...
